Historic British administrative island
Ross Island was the British administrative headquarters and now stands as a historical ruin.Ross Island, now officially known as Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Island, was once the administrative headquarters of the British in the Andaman Islands. Today, it stands as a hauntingly beautiful ruin surrounded by nature.
The island features remains of colonial buildings such as churches, hospitals, and officer quarters, all slowly reclaimed by tree roots and greenery. Walking through Ross Island feels like stepping back in time.
Deer and peacocks roam freely on the island, adding to its charm. The island is a favorite spot for photography, history exploration, and short excursions from Port Blair.
